IMPORTANT NOTES
Prices include shipping EXCEPT for the 5” and 6” skimmers, which are oversized and must be shipped by truck.
The skimmer size (for example 4” skimmer”) is the maximum size of the orifice for that model. The orifice can be made smaller using the supplied plug and adjustable cutter to lower the flow rate to drain the volume of the particular basin in the required time.
Flow rates are the maximum with the orifice wide open.
Flow rates given assume no additional flow into the basin after the storm (such as base flow) and no restrictions at the outlet (for example, submerged outlet).
Approximate sediment basin size given as examples assumes 2:1 interior side slopes.
The skimmer includes the float, inlet with vent, rope, orifice plug and cutter, and flexible joint. The skimmer DOES NOT INCLUDE pipe for the barrel or arm between the inlet and flexible joint, which is available locally at plumbing dealers or home improvement centers. The 6” skimmer DOES include the barrel because it uses 5” pipe, which can be hard to find in some localities.
The 1.5”, 2”, 2.5”, 3”, and 4” skimmers attach to a 4” sch 40 PVC pipe. The 5” and 6” skimmers attach to a 6” sch 40 PVC pipe. The couplings can be removed from the threaded fittings and the fittings used to connect the hose. Standard metal, plastic, or rubber adapters can be used to reduce down from valves or pipe stubs to attach the skimmer to a riser. The skimmer can also be attached to a separate pipe through the dam where a spillway is used instead of a riser.
For recommendations on sizing and shaping the sediment basin, using the skimmer, maintenance, and flow specifications for determining the orifice (rate, head, etc.) refer to the Skimmer Manual

Skimmers are usually in stock and available but you should allow at least 2 weeks for availability. Allow at least 3 weeks for the 5” and 6” skimmers.
